The secret identity aspect was dragged on a little too long for my liking but the love was goooood!!

Not sure if it was the narrator or the writing or both, but that 9 yr old child sounded like at least a teenager.

I didn't like this as much as I wanted to.

That said, I certainly didn't hate it. But Sarah MacLean is one of my favorites, and I was super excited for Chase, so ... I expected better.

I guess that for me, the problem was rooted in the h/h.

I thought Georgiana undercut Chase so much that I didn't buy them as the same person. How in holy hell did this woman become queen of the underworld? She's ... she's so easily cowed. Even worse, we're in her head and seeing how entirely cowed she is. She feels guilty for not being honest... with someone she KNOWS is not being honest with her. Really? And I'm supposed to believe you've been ruling the Angel with an iron fist for 6 years?

You can't take Chase - the enigmatic puppetmaster we've seen looming throughout the series - and turn that character into some weak-kneed beta female in her book. You just can't. This should have been more of a clash of alphas - a clash of these amazing titanic personalities. As it is, we had a whole book of the hero referring to the heroine as property - if he called Chase her "master" or "owner" one more time, I was going to punch him right in the face... why did she let him get away with that?

I don't see any of Chase in Georgiana. I didn't see any steel backbone, I didn't see any ability to defend herself, I didn't see a mastermind. I saw a woman in search of a man to take care of her. And it was incredibly fucking disappointing.

And I honestly didn't like Duncan. I tried. I did. And he has some decent qualities, sure. But he ... his ego, his sense of entitlement, and his utter surety that everything must be exactly the way he thinks it is... I just greatly disliked him. How many times did he have to say "I don't want you to be any part of this" in this book? How about fuck off, buddy? How about, this is HER WORLD, and she has more right to be here than you do? How about you don't assume, for one damn moment, that you know way more about this situation than she does?

I hated - HATED - that despite her insisting that this was the life she chose, he couldn't stop telling her that she was being used, mistreated, manipulated... and she either knew it and was lying to him, or she was too stupid to realize it.

And even worse, the incredible presumptuousness of his demand for all her secrets, while he shared nothing of himself. And the way he would treat her as a possession. And the way that he literally gave no fucks about anything she'd say... throughout this book, Duncan would CONSTANTLY dismiss anything she said about her life or the Angel or her choices or Chase. As if she's just too stupid to make these decisions herself. It was so incredibly condescending.

Duncan West is wrong for Chase. I don't for a minute believe that, in the end with them together, he'd let her continue to live the life of her choosing.

But Georgiana doesn't really seem to be Chase at all - I certainly saw no evidence for it - so maybe the two of them will be just fine.

Incredibly disappointing.

Ha sido maravilloso cómo ha encajado todo. Esta trama ha sido completamente distinta al resto de la serie.
