If you like atmospheric, feel-good stories, this one is for you. Plot wise? Not a lot happens which made me feel very bored.
Gier’s writing style is the same amongst all books that it feels like you’re reading the same story, same character. Doesn’t feel realistic, which isn’t my kind of “good soup”.

A Castle in the Clouds by Kerstin Gier

4/5✨

The perfect holiday treat ! Mixing romance, mystery & humour, Gier gives us a heartwarming novel set in the Swiss Alps during the “Twelve days of Christmas”.

Sophie Spark, is a seventeen year old intern working in a luxurious century-old hotel. She splits her days between different roles, but most, often as a babysitter. Once a year, when the famous New Year's Eve Ball takes place and guests from all over the world arrive, excitement returns to the vast hallways.

Sophie is busy making sure that everything goes according to plan. But unexpected problems keep arising, and some of the guests are not who they pretend to be. Very soon, Sophie finds herself right in the middle of a perilous adventure--and at risk of losing not only her job, but also her heart.

What I loved most about this story was the characters. Each one of them brought a unique element to the story. Ben, Tristan, the Forbidden Cat, Monsieur Rocher, Amy (just to name a few) brought a different dimension to the adventure. Even though the story is based around the holiday season, it can definitely be read at any other time during the winter season if you like an atmospheric read, by a crackling fire with cozy socks. ✨
