I came across this book on tiktok...and it didn't let me down. This book is RIDICULOUS!!! It's like an episode of Criminal Minds on steroids. I love the way the authors utilize the third person narrative to allow you into the minds of so many characters, the killer included. I had so many theories while reading and somehow they all proved to be wrong. This book literally had me on the edge of my seat and I was thinking about it even when I wasn't reading it. I wish I could go back and read this book all over again to get the same thrill!!

*Please note that this book does include gruesome details of the murdering of children.*

I was excited to read this as I’ve been a long-time viewer of James Murry aka Murr on Impractical Jokers. This was the furthest away from any comedy sketches! I am also an avid cruiser so I had to get this one under my belt. At times quite gruesome, this book was an adventure that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Maria sat on a jury where alleged child serial killer, Wyatt Butler, was set free. Maria was outed publicly as the juror who found Wyatt not guilty, thus setting him free and causing Maria’s life to be turned upside down.

Now, a couple of years later, Maria is trying to rebuild her life and her family have decided to take a two week transatlantic cruise, but when things start to go awry on the trip Maria is left to wonder if the past is coming back to haunt her.

This was a really fun thriller and an interesting take on the whole locked room mystery vibe. Was it overly believable how it all played out? No, not really. Did I care about that? No, not really. It kept me hooked right from the start, made me doubt everyone and made me want to not put it down, which are all big ticks from me.

It is worth knowing before going in that there is some very violent scenes in this book and some pretty graphic details about murder scenes, including those of children (though you can absolutely skim through these sections without losing any of the story).

Reading this book felt like watching a high energy movie play out on the pages and was just the fast paced, fun thriller I needed this month.

Thank you to St. Martins Press for sending me an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Two years ago Maria sat on the jury for the child serial killer case of Wyatt Butler. His case ends in a mistrial when one juror votes not guilty and releases Butler free. Now, two years later, Maria is enjoying a family vacation on a transatlantic cruise when murders with Butler’s exact MO start happening. But they are stranded at sea with limited resources! So much suspense! **There should also be trigger warnings for this one! It has gruesome details of violence and child murder. **

This one was a little darker than I usually read but not too bad. It definitely had suspense! I think my shoulders are still tensed up after reading it. I loved the setting and the feeling of being trapped and stuck, that was a great addition to the the story. I think the characters were a little predictable and they kinda gave away the bad guy once they introduced him. I wasn’t sure who was going to survive and who wasn’t in the end. Also I liked the antagonist’s motive, I thought it was a unique spin. Overall it was good and I love the fact that James Murray is the author (Murr from Impractical Jokers).
