I had been in a reading slump before reading this book. This book helped me out of it. I finished it in five days, and read the book in large portions at once. This book was thought provoking, and I like the way it explored different themes.

spoiler>There's a quote in this book about how once a lot of people with extreme views have family recipes, and lives. I think a lot of people forget that everyone is human, and I loved the empathy this book had for humanity. I also loved how human April May was.

This book does so many things- a look at humanity through a science fiction lens.

Really enjoyed this book. Fast read, compelling, and realistic, flawed characters. The premise is an original idea with the commentary of political polarization, fame, power, and vitality of the internet. Excited for the sequel!

I was suggested this book from a tik tok user sharing that this is the book they read to get out of a reading slump!

That alone was enough to encourage me to give it a go, and I could not put this down! It is an gorgeous demonstration as to how millennial/gen z are expected to be terminally online and connected. Not in a negative way, but more so the way our society has evolved to intrench social media so thoroughly in our lives.

Whilst not every person is going to connect with the experience of fame, but I think I speaks to the ways in which we measure ourselves and grow to figure out what our life is and what we want it to be.

I cannot wait to read the next book!

A super fun, witty ride of a book with excellent character development that is fast-paced, self-aware, and sharply written. I didn't take much away from this but it's a feel-good read about a first-contact situation that emphasizes the social, ground-level effects versus taking a government/military perspective that is often given in these types of stories.
