I flew through this! Started with the audiobook (which was great), but couldn’t wait until an opportunity to continue in that format, so I finished it in ebook and print. All four boys were unique and lovable, but any time you have four main characters it’s hard to spend sufficient time with any of them. I wanted more time with them all! and I wanted more interaction between them. It ended perfectly, so I’m not sure where the author is taking the story in the second half of the duology, but I’m excited to read it and see!

I'm crying so much (not actually because it is not sad) but the characters!! their love for each other, platonic, romantic, familial, is just so so so sweet.
The writing is amazing as well and it doesn't feel dull, or boring at any point. And the tension is written beautifully.

It's just. Such an amazing book and I cannot stress how much I love the characters <3 <3

New comfort book for me

Actually crying and melting inside though because it's just so sweet and I love them so so so much and I don't want to be away from them

This review was a mess but it is just so good

I mentally aged everyone up to being their college years as opposed too being juniors. Every single aspect of the story, from emotional maturity, to lack of parental involvement, and every thing in between all screamed finishing college.

The boys weren’t unlikable, but.. they were, one dimensional. They were all cookie cutter white boys with minimal personality really. And yknow what? There are a million mediocre straight teen YA books that exist. Us queers deserve to take up space in mediocre YA too!

I am emotional.

Like why did this book have to hit so hard???? THE FEELS!!! Anyway, absolutely loved it.
Platonic male friends who show affection? Thank you.
Anxiety Rep? Thank you.
Being worried about losing your friends when you go separate ways and comforting me? Thank you.
Great character development and finding yourself? THANK YOU!

I'm currently in a similar situation where I moved away from home and am losing connection to all my friends from school while they still hang out and stuff and I've really been struggling with it, but this book has made me feel so much better about myself and accept it

This book was outstanding. It encapsulates teen platonic and romantic love so perfectly! I can’t wait for more!

Thank you to ALAN, Bloomsbury, and NetGalley for this ARC.

Okay. Phil Stamper has done it again. These four boys need protecting. I really appreciate the midwesst setting as the basis for them all. One of the most imporant aspects of Queer YA is that none of the characters are flawless and they are allowed to embrace growth while also having anxiety. There's hope, there's despair, there's change, but there's also screw ups. I truly enjoyed having them all spread around and how they communicat4ed and sometimes miscoummnicated. Every high schooler should have access to this book, and older people should read it not only to remember how they felt but also to remind yourself that joy can exist in a complex and not always joyful world. Basically grab this book and give it to everyone.
