This book, words are not enough to describe how I am feeling after finishing this book. There’s two POVs, Olivia- mom who lost her beautiful boy too early. Beth- who lost herself in marriage and found herself again. I am so heartbroken for Olivia and Anthony. It’s so hard for them. The author precisely described a mothers unconditional love, the sadness behind losing a loved one, autism spectrum, a wife who’s been cheated- her emotions and ordeal.
The story progress was beautiful, I am in love with Nantucket. The depiction of rocks and character development couldn’t be any perfect. Made me cry buckets. The writing is beautiful.

I'm a third of the way through this book, and am a bit disappointed... Hope it gets better.

I've now finished this book and realize why I didn't love it the way I loved the author's first 2 books ... there wasn't enough Anthony and Olivia and too much Beth and Jimmy. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the Anthony parts were so heartfelt.. I just wish there had been more of them.

Oh, Lisa Genova you have done it again. Another fantastic novel by the author of Still Alice and Left Neglected.

#2 Book Read in 2013
Love Anthony by Lisa Genova

Lisa Genova has become one of my favorite authors. Her previous books, Still Alice and Left Neglected, were powerful reads that showed her background in science before beginning her writing career. Her new book, Love Anthony, shows growth as an author. While less scientific than her other two novels, this book did not disappoint as Genova took a more spiritual bent to her writing.

In Love Anthony, Olivia is dealing with the death of her autistic young son, Anthony. Her marriage has broken up and she has moved to their former vacation home on a pretty isolated island. While there, she begins a photography business. One of her clients is Beth, trying to deal with the fact that her husband had recently cheated on her. Beth is trying to find her way back to herself and begins to write again. She almost feels compelled to write her novel, telling the story of an autistic boy named Anthony. However, Beth does not know anything about Olivia's son while she is writing her book. Eventually the two cross paths about the novel and both are amazed by the connections.

This was a good read. Genova's writing is getting stronger with each book, in my opinion. I recommend all of her books. I cannot wait to read anything else she writes.

I received this book to review through the Amazon Vine program.

A beautiful book, Lisa Genova really knows her stuff. To date, the best book I've read about autism.

I have now read and enjoyed this author's 3 books. I would rate this particular one 4-4.5 stars. It held my interest and I wanted to find out what would happen next with the characters.

A sweet story centred about autism. Felt a bit cheesy at times, wasn't such a fan of Beth's 'novel within a novel' (now that really was cheesy). I like Lisa Genova's books but this for me was nowhere near as powerful as Still Alice. Enjoyed it though!

So I am a huge fan of this author so the second I got a big boy job out of college, I went and bought this book on my break. It took me about a year to get around to actually reading it. I loved that it was about autism. My little brother is on the autism spectrum and the way the other books by this author are written I thought it would give some insight on how he sees the world.

Instead this is the story of the mother of a child with autism and a woman who is dealing with the breaking up of her family after her husband cheats on her. So the two women bond after they run across each other on the island. Then the story is told from alternating perspectives between the women and also the writing about a little boy named Anthony that has autism.

This is not the normal set up for this author. I much prefer her normal mode of telling the story from the perspective of the person with the psychological diagnosis. However, I can’t complain about the writing or what happened. As also this author was incredible. This book just didn’t live up to the other books.

I really wish I had more to say on this book. There was nothing actually wrong with it but there was also nothing that was amazing about it either. Read if you like “chick lit”.

Beautiful book about love, loss, and autism. I could't put it down.
