The art is amazing in this next installment of the Red Hood and the Outlaws story. While many fans may miss Kenneth Rocafort's art work, the work in this book is still great. You can see the amount of detail on many of these pages.
In terms of story Scott Lobdell delivers another great adventure for these guys. You can really see the team building and I love that we get more origin story for Jason Todd and Starfire. I would love to see more Roy Harper back story, but it was still worth while to get to know more about Starfire and her captivity and see more Jason Todd and Batman's rocky relationship.
This book is a perfect example of why readers should continue the series. Because, at first I thought that the series had taken a turn for the worst, it has come right back around in these last few volumes.

Finally Kori is getting some real, focused development! The team feels a bit more like family, especially Roy and Jason, but they obviously care about Kori a lot even if they don't understand her completely. I like that she's allowed to be pissed off, go on a whole revenge rampage due to some old wounds being brought up again.
She hunts down an old slave trader who has seemingly turned his life around, but Kori doesn't care at all lmao she is pissed and ready to destroy him. I loved it

  • Origins stories, not great (partly because I know they get retconned again in rebirth)
  • Still love the joyfire dynamic but oh god the dialogue is so stilted here. Feels like Lobdell realised people we're shipping these three together so increased the awkward no homo moments.
  • Christmas issue was kinda cute and quirky in a way I do enjoy though

I really like this title/series. They really do feel like their own little family, which I appreciate because none of these characters had much of a family, or a good life at all. I am going to be really upset when this series ends.

The first two issues are origins and a bit of a duplication of what's gone before. But any drop in rating for the first two issues was more than made up for by the Christmas issues, which was excellent. And the artwork was great.

Not as good as the first few volumes. Rehashes the new new52 origins (which I mostly don't like). Some cute moments interspersed

Well, I know what graphic novels I’m considering trading in for credits at my local comic shop or selling as a lot. The writing in this was, quite frankly, embarrassing to read. I can’t remember the last time I felt so annoyed with a messy plot that I had to speed-read the end half of a graphic novel. I’m so glad Lobdell’s efforts improve when this series hits Rebirth.
