Imagine if the humour of Douglas Adams paired up with someone very very ... very clever. Dean Burnett's book on the brain and how it's quite brilliant but also totally mental is just that. I totally loved it.

Burnett does a terrific job of explaining our wacky brains. Pretty basic information; if you've read any other brain books then most of this you'll already know. However, his writing is pretty funny and he keeps it very interesting. On a topic that could easily be dry, this was a fun and quick read but you get the benefit of learning about the brain! #bookstagram #bookish #bookworm #idiotbrain

If, like me, you're fascinated by how the brain works (but you're not an actual scientist) then might I recommend this book? Burnett keeps the technical language to a minimum and explains the concepts in a way that the average person on the street can understand. I feel like I've got a much better grasp on why I, and other people, behave the way we do!
