I had 6 minutes left in this book and was thinking about how I’d rate it. It wasn’t a bad book but nothing really phenomenal. I was debating between 3 or 4 stars. The last 2 or so minutes changed all of that. I’m marking this as a spoiler but I’ll try not to spoil it. The last 2 minutes I gasped, got chills, and teared up. I didn’t see it coming and it made this story so much more.

“When you leave your home for unknown shores, you don't simply carry on as before; a part of you dies inside so that another part can start all over again.”

Shafak’s book hit a little too close to home
