I'm very very picky about how authors write the mechanics of magic, and I gotta say I love how Lana Harper did it! Especially with Isidora's magic, it was so descriptive I could FEEL it!!

However, and this could be a spoiler, but at the end I thought she wasn't so in the wrong with the Haunted House? Like obviously done in poor taste, but the Thorns have been AWFUL to the Avramovs and I don't think that was an unwarranted take?? I mean even at the end they were blamed for everything? Idk just sat weird with me but

The only criticism I have is that I wanted to know more about the pets.  ;)

This was cute! While it wasn't as romance-heavy as I was expecting, I really enjoyed the expansive lore and more building up of the family relationships. Like, the heart-to-heart Isidora had with her mom was just wonderfully heartfelt. That said, I will say it ended a bit too rushed and also kind of dragged the plot out a bit too far. A little more than halfway into the book, the culprit kind of became obvious and so having the characters hem and haw about what to do just didn't end up working much.

Despite that, I still enjoy this series. I love what Lana Harper has done with the magic and the world; I love the characters and their relationships with one another; most importantly, I really look forward to reading Nineve's book (her appearance in this book was short, but impactful).

These are such fun books! I want to be a Thistle Grove witch!! I wouldn’t even care which family. These are on my automatic read list and I hope she does more than just the three listed. Such wonderful romps and hit the spot of witchy love. More please!!!!

Isadora is proud to be an Avramov, one of four magic families descended from those who founded Thistle Gorve. Her family works with death magic, the dark and the spooky.

Though she loves her family, legacy and magic, lately she's felt trapped by her work at the family business. She wants to start her own clothing line, her own business...

But when a Thorn witch is cursed, by necromantic magic, Isadora will do whatever it takes to protect her family from false accusations.

Even working with holier than thou Rowan Thorn, Wildlife Hero on the investigation into who, precisely, cursed his cousin.

This story was good, some investigation, some magic and romantic tension. I already feel warm towards this town, and many of the characters. I had a great time reading this. Rowan is a babe, and though the story isn't perfection, I think it works really well as witchy fun.

Easier to follow than the first, the plot made more sense and you already knew the families and magical abilities

Such a cute continuation of this series! I honestly love Rowan and Issa, they're both very fun characters to read, and Issa has a captivating voice in her narrative. As always, Lana Harper's spice is excellent.
