This was a fun and charming read just like the first book was. It was great to be back in Thistle Grove!
My only real complaint was that the romance felt a little rushed. Rowan and especially Issa spent SEVEN YEARS absolutely loathing each other and then by like their second meeting they’re ready to make out. I wish the attraction had been built up a little more. That said, they are cute together.
I also didn’t find the mystery in this one quite as compelling as the competition was in the first book. Our protagonists didn’t actually spend as much time as you’d assume they would trying to figure out who the culprit was.

An excellent 2nd book for the Witches of Thistle Grove series! Rowan and Issa really had all that angst that was filled with such tension and when it finally broke
Corny people from cornball city say corny things to each other. Very cute if you like witchy things. The Gilmore girl charm of the setting does a lot to make up for the dialogue.

Still enjoyed the storyline, and didn’t see who the villain was coming but was just not as engrossed as the first one.
I may have liked the plot of this one a bit better than the first, although I think I preferred Emmy’s voice from the first (although I will say that in the beginning Issa sounded so much like Emmy that I was getting confused; might only have been noticeable because I read them so close together). Anyway, this was fun - it kept me on my toes, moved quickly, and who doesn’t love a solid enemies-to-lovers romance?
I knew I was going to like Issa Avramov from her introduction, as Talia’s sister, in Payback’s A Witch. Not to mention we share a sun sign. As a narrator, Issa feels very honest. She recognizes when she is bullshitting even herself, which I really like in a person, and she seems to have an occasional guilty conscience, which I completely relate to.
The romance between her and Rowan is fun, and filled with past mistakes on both parts which pushes the characters to grow and confront their own biases.
I had already fallen in love with the town of Thistle Grove, and I can’t wait to continue the story in book 3 Back In A Spell.

This book was so cute and I loved reading it from an Avramov’s POV. After all they are my favorite witch family in the thistle grove series. I also loved seeing some of my favorite characters again. I loved the dark magic vs green magic aspect and the May Day festival. This was so cute and fun and perfect for spooky season.
