I enjoyed this book overall. I'd say it's not as great as the first book in the series (Payback's A Witch), but it was still good. The romance in the book kept me going. There is a mystery/crime aspect to this book which I tend not to enjoy that much. Luckily, the book balanced that out with fantasy and romance. As far as spice, overall a lot of teasing (like in the 1st book) with I'd say 2 descriptive 🌶 scenes. Very enemies to lovers vibes.

*SPOILERS BELOW*
I did enjoy Rowan and Isadora's relationship and their chemistry. Rowan seems to be a sweetheart and it was nice to follow Isa as she learned Rowan's character. As mentioned above, there were 2 descriptive 🌶 parts but nothing ground shaking. I'd say this is a romantasy with a touch of spice. Definitely more plot driven than spice driven. Overall I really enjoyed the romance in it. It kind of kept me going with the book. A lot of the characters were mentioned in the first book, but I still felt like we needed a bit better introduction to the characters in this book. The plot got a bit lost/muddy for me. I did listen to this as an audiobook, so maybe that played a role. Everything tied well together at the end though!

I am loving learning about the Thistlegrove Witches and reading each of their stories! This has been a great series so far! Off to read book 3 😍🙌

Torn between 3 or 3.5 stars because Ididora was SO insufferable for about the first half of the book. The resolution is good though, and it makes her way more understandable. Rowan is a bit too saintly for my taste, and of course the first book in the series spoiled me with queer romance. By contrast this one was v "boring straights".
