This series is so cheesy and a little old fashioned in light of reading this book in 2023, but there's also something so charming about Hannah and her escapades, and I really enjoy reading these stories ever so often. They're a prime example of a good cozy mystery series!

Hannah Swenson is celebrating the holiday season with her family, her two wanna-be beaus: Norman the dentist and Mike the cop... and a murder. This season, she is selling cookies at the Crazy Elf Christmas Tree Lot. She and her partner Lisa are baking up a storm and Larry, the owner and head ELF is selling them as fast as they send them over. Hannah's mother Delores has started a business course at the local college and ropes Hannah into going with her. Hannah and Norman head over to the Elf Shop to pick up her check and receipt for the cookies when they discover Larry the Elf dead. Mike is tasked to investigate. With a slew of suspects, Hannah will have her hands full trying to figure out "who dun it".
Fun story with tons of recipes in the book. Hannah is a strong female character who is surrounded with friends and family who support her. She also loves baking and her recipes are "stupid simple," written for those of us who are not pastry chefs. If you love a mystery surrounded by desserts, definitely give this series a try.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A person from Hannah's past makes an appearance. It took me a bit too figure out the killer in this one but I did figure it out before their identity was revealed. The recipes in this one sound divine. Can't wait to try some of them.

I like listening to these at work, as I don't really have to concentrate. But could Hannah PLEASE kick Mike to the curb definitively?
Again, so predictable but the recipes in this book sound so good! And it irritated me that the actual murder and investigation didn't start until more than halfway through the book! And the love triangle is getting annoying.
(Side note: It also bothers me that Lake Eden is such a small town and her business is doing great but yet so many murders keep happening. Honestly not very realistic at all.)
