I enjoyed these reflective essays combining nature and the author’s lived experiences. Many of them I wish were a bit longer with more depth, but in the end the effect of them all together was meditative. My favorites were mostly the ones about plants, but the closing one on fireflies really touched me. Pick this up if you want to feel both calmed and compelled.

This book is wonderful! Full of short stories of love and wonder to plants, birds, animals, insects, fish, the changing of seasons, and of places. I wish more people did this - demarcated their life by their memories of Planet Earth, like when you captured your first firefly by hand or when you first saw a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis or when you first saw a coral reef your first time snorkeling, rather than based on material & professional accomplishments. What a gift! I'll be sharing this book with many friends.
