I expected to like this series much more than I do. That expectation may have played a part, but normally it would not. I like the story well enough though some parts are a bit obvious. The writing is a little fluffy at times. Audrey is cool, but her inner monologue comes off pretty sexist with the constant talk of propriety and whatnot. And we get it; you are "not like other girls", but you still care about "girly" things. It's alright though, I'll most likely, probably finish the series. Thomas reminds me a bit of my husband.

p.s vampire bats don't generally attack humans, and their bite has been compared to what a mosquito bite feels like.

FIVE FREAKING STARS FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!!!!!!

Oh my gods of Olympus this books is absolutely incredible!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever loved a mystery more than this one and the previous one. These stories are disturbing in such a way that makes you want to read more. This book was focused on bats, blood, and Dracula, unlike the last which was focused more on the humans themselves. It’s significantly less disturbing than the last but still a bit disturbing. I am going to recommend this book to everyone!!!

I really liked the plot of this book. The castle was interesting, but the lack of many characters made this book feel a bit flat.
