Towards the beginning I really thought I was gonna end up DNFing this BUT I decided to trust the process and I ended up having fun reading it! Is it my favorite book ever? No. Am I gonna read the other books? Maybe??? In the hopes they’ll be less rapey and more ‘finding purpose and happiness and love despite the unchangable terrible things that happen in life’?
A lot of super dark things happen in this book, and I’m not sure I like the way that they’re handled. especially given how short it is it’s like holy shit 188 pages??? how did you even fit all that in there girl?? so pls heed the triggers

Have you ever watched a cheesy sci-fi show that you know will barely last 3 seasons? Yeah, this book is the equivalent to that.
It reminded me somewhat of Avatar fanfic with the main male love interests sharing some similar characteristics.
Now here is my hot take, I know several people that I have talked to have praised this book for it's overly female attention and positive male partners but...I didn't get that at all. They seem preditory and once you find out that their "mating" parasite is more so to find someone who will carry their children also adds to the "umm no" for me. This might do well for someone who is into breeding kink, wanting women to have no say in being pregnant, and insta love but most of those don't align with my tastes.
I also want to point out that if this book would have been written by a man phrases such as "a room full of young females ready for breeding" might not be taken well, so we shouldn't give a pass just because it came from a woman.
Let's also not forget that apparently all these 22 year old women apparently know so much about science and Star Wars while also maintaining complete hairlessness for weeks.
Anyways, this wasn't the worst thing I've read and there were moments that were fun. But ending with: I don't get the hype, but I can appreciate the golden retriever energy of the main male lead.

I was not expecting to like this as much as I did! I needed a fun read to start off my '22 goals and this did the perfect trick. It's surprisingly sweet and funny (not to mention just the right amount of spicy). I would definitely recommend giving it a shot and I'll be for sure reading Book 2.
I am a little peeved about the SA in the first few chapters as there really wasn't...a purpose for including it. Also I can't with Vektal describing Georgie as weak and soft and small every five seconds. Like I get it and I love him but c'mon.
