I am a sucker for Jane Austen remakes. This Persuasion-inspired story set in Tobago was a fun read.

This is a soulful and uplifting journey of love, music, and self-discovery. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Tobago, Dass invites readers to immerse themselves in the enchanting world of Reyna Montero as she navigates the rhythms of life and love. With its rich descriptions and vivid imagery, Dass transports readers to the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of the Caribbean, evoking a sense of warmth and nostalgia.
At its heart, "Where The Rhythm Takes You" is a story about following your dreams, embracing your heritage, and finding the courage to love fearlessly. Through Reyna's journey, readers are reminded of the transformative power of music and the importance of staying true to oneself. With its lovable characters, heartfelt moments, and toe-tapping rhythms, this book is sure to leave readers feeling inspired and uplifted. Whether you're a fan of romance, music, or stories that celebrate the beauty of culture and community, "Where The Rhythm Takes You" is a must-read that will resonate long after the final page.
Favourite quote: “I felt no lingering questions of tabanca, only the beat of a heart that was as much mine as mine was his.”

This is a cute retelling of Jane Austen's Persuasion, set in Tobago.
I started off really enjoying it and had fun looking for the parallels. I did think by the end that it was a little longer than it needed to be, but the ending was sweet.
I loved the setting and the Caribbean vibe.

Liked the vibe and the setting. The romance was more tell than show. It's a beach read that I don't think I'll recall much from in the future, but it was fine for what it was. Not my favorite Persuasion retelling, unfortunately.
