I enjoyed it, it made me laugh. But did get a little long

Hilarious book that was almost too real at times. I would definitely recommend this to every stay at home mom I know!

This book was super cute. I read it in 1 day. It was easy to read, funny, and the protagonist is likable and relatable to me as a mom. This book read like a string of Bunmi's witty and honest blog posts, making it so easy to breeze through with a smile on my face.
This story is full of exaggerated versions of the struggles of today's young moms in the world of social media and instant gratification. It had me laughing repeatedly.
I needed to read a book that was just light hearted and fun and this book really nailed it.

This book was a blast and made me laugh out loud!

As a first time mom to a 6 month old there were parts of this book I 100% completely related to and there were times I laughed so hard I cried. But overall, I was disappointed. I enjoyed the story overall though. I would write out a more thoughtful review but it is only 6am and I have already been up with my daughter for an hour. So this is all you get.

I really enjoyed this book. I laughed out loud and had secondhand embarrassment for the MC on multiple occasions. Definitely recommend to my mommy friends.

"Are the flaws of the main character a main focus of the book?" I selected "Yes" but honestly, if there was a "HELL YES" option, I'd go with that! I mean, it might be expected given the title about being a "domestic failure."

The tagline of this book reads: "Ashley Keller - new mom... hot mess." And there's hardly a truer statement than that. But it's the hot mess that makes this book so relatable, and thus so forgiving. We walk into Ashley's life to see her adjusting - or not, as it were - to life as a new mom. From chic, high-profile professional to a woman who wears yoga pants and burp-stained shirts, whose idea of "getting out" is Target or a walk to the coffee shop down the street, Ashley is in a whirlwind of changes. She is drowning in being overwhelmed, but tries to look like she's keeping it all together - particularly when she joins an exclusive Mommy Boot Camp, run by the perfect blogger she idolizes.

Through ongoing impossible tasks of crafting and home organization, we get a solid view of the contrast of the expectations of motherhood perfection, versus the actual drawbacks of being human. As Ashley bungles her way through the boot camp, she feels the impossibility of her situation but is constantly filled with a strong determination to do better, to be the "perfect" mom her daughter deserves. Her commitment is bolstered by the perfection described by the blogger she follows, even as she is easily outshone by her sister, who is already the ideal mom in every way. The contrasts make Ashley relatable in her hot mess state, while also pointing out the ridiculous expectations upheld by society toward mothers.

Laugh along in this delightful read, even as you (hopefully) come to terms with the realization of the sneaky truth: we're ALL a hot mess, and perfection is a true illusion.

I nearly didn't even put this book on my "read" list, because I am almost embarassed to admit that I read it. Not because I have a problem with light and fluffy books, but because this on in particular is painful to get through.

It starts with one of the most clique premises - new mom looking at facebook/instagram/pinterest/others and compares her piles of dirty laundry and percieved failure to the curated perfection of other moms on the internet.

Laditan sets of a cast of one dimensional characters - the stressed, disorganized, "I feel like I am a failure" new mom against her slightly nutty mother-in-law (with whom new mom bonds over alcohol after one near melt-down), perfect sister Joy, and a social media maven (who happens to be a perfect mom).

New mom joins a "motherhood better bootcamp" by said perfect social media mom to try to become a perfect mom. I am not spoiling this, because you can probably guess how it ends. (perhaps how our 'relatable' new mom helps the other moms see that it is ok not to be perfect?).

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this book.
