I think there are things that this book does well and things where it definitely could have used a bit more editing. Some of the pacing felt off for me, and I think that's because there would be a ton of detail in certain scenes, but then where there were scenes where I wanted detail, there wasn't a lot. Some of Maggie's situation with her parents could have been fleshed out a little more, but I absolutely loved the dynamic that she had with her parents.

The overall representation in this was also great, even if it was a little bit of a quasi love triangle. Also a lot of the moments that maybe felt a little cringey was because she was a teenager and teenagers don't always make the best decisions. Mosqueda hit the nail on the head with the voice and the overall feel of a teen book.

This is a fun read and I think a lot of teens will relate to Maggie and her friends. It's great if you're just looking for something quick and fun!

Thanks to Macmillan for the free advance copy of this book.

 - JUST YOUR LOCAL BISEXUAL DISASTER is a lovely story about sifting through the complicated feelings of being a teenager, particularly one who's still figuring out herself and what direction she wants to take in life.
- This book tackles the uncertainties of being a young queer person, and how those get mixed in with biphobic stereotypes received from all sides.
- I love that this book centers queer kids of color, and how a love of the Rio Grande Valley shines through the pages. Maggie and her friends and family are both highly specific and broadly relatable. As a side note, I'm looking up if there's anywhere nearby where I could get a raspa ASAP.

Thank you to Netgalley and Fierce Reads for an arc of this book.

Maggie is a mess. She's a little upset that she feels like such a bisexual stereotype, but she knows that people can be a little messy. In an attempt to understand herself better, Maggie creates a private instagram to post photography of the three people she might have feelings for so she can hopefully figure her crap out--and ace her art project. Everything gets--messy. Will she be able to sort herself out in time for her sister's quince?

This was so fun and refreshing and wild and I really loved it. Maggie is a great character! I often feel like a disaster pan/queer, and I really related to a lot of the struggles she was having throughout the book. I also really liked her friends, sisters, and other supporting cast! Maggie's photography was such an interesting feature and it felt like she was a real person that I was really rooting for throughout the book.

She definitely messed up at times, but I thought the deep-talks with her friends to really figure out what was going on were super satisfying and really showed the two sides that need to take responsibility in most arguments. Yes, Maggie was messy, but hey, all people are, and that was a great theme of this book.

I loved it! Such a fun read!
