I found this story endearing and creepy; however, the story felt rushed to me. This definitely could have been longer (and I didnt miss the more extreme elements).

The descriptions were very poetic and I really enjoyed the premise.

"I took another sip of cider and closed my eyes. More memories drifted up from the ether, vivid as dreams."

This is the type of horror that digs in and settles. The quiet horror that gives all the feelings. Senses of loss, the places that hurt, wanting to see that loved one just one more time.

The dark October nights with a chill in the air and the returning dreams of a lost childhood.
Finding a way to have that connection to once was, but is no longer.

Wonderful!!♥
