3.5 AVERAGE

I started to read this book three times, but Becky's impulses to spend drove me crazy. This time I gave it a few more chapters and her mishaps started to amuse me. I really liked "I've Got Your Number" and I may be a Shopaholic fan now too.

Humorous, light, enjoyable.

So, it's okay not to address the deeply troubling psychological issues of compulsive buying and excessive, crippling debt, because those situations always have fairy tale endings. Right?

This book stressed me out. I don't think Rebecca Bloomwood ever got any help for her shopaholism or her lying habit, but at least she's got a man and more money to spend.

I got dumber just by reading this book.

Having not read this series in years I was excited to get back into the world of Rebecca Bloomwood! Funny, scatty and a complete shopaholic she is immediately a likeable character and I really enjoy her growth in this first book. A perfect easy summer read and I'll be moving straight onto the second.

I really enjoyed this book! Turning each page, I was eager and giddy with anticipation! I found myself captivated, laughing, smirking, or letting out a triumphant giggle when Rebecca rose above situations!

I feel people were quite harsh w/some of the reviews, this book is really light-hearted and fun to read. In my younger years, I could definitely relate to Rebecca's shop-a-holic tendencies and pretending bills didn't exist. Y'know and it sounds so silly, how can somebody get into debt? Well, when you're young and something is handed to you, as everything else is, you're not too used to thinking about consequences until it's too late.

Later in life, I too fixed my debt and have great credit standing now, even applied to some of the same cards I paid off and it does make you feel quite accomplished, grown up, and just a whole new side of you starts to emerge. Obviously, this story resonates a lot w/me and unless you are picture perfect, we've all had our struggles with something once in a while.

As long as there is a new day, there is a chance to change whatever is making you unhappy!

Meh

The story of a girl who works for a financial magazine and doles out advice about people's finances, investing etc. However, she loves to shop and is in debt up to her eyeballs. Typical chick-lit, but I really liked it. It was funny and riciculous and made me laugh out loud.

Not much to say on this one. Very quick read. Heroine is supposed to be quirky, loveable. Personally, I thought it was a poor ripoff of Helen Fielding and Bridget Jones.
