While a lot of this book wasn't very probable, I still enjoyed it. It was a fluff read, but easy. The characters were likable, especially the lead character of Rebecca!

De categorie "Een stiekem-wil-ik-niet-dat-iemand-weet-dat-ik-dit-boek-heb-gelezen-boek" in de Verbeelding Book Challenge vond ik de allermoeilijkste omdat het ook een boek moest zijn dat ik daadwerkelijk wou lezen (dus geen 50 shades of zo). En waarom zou een mens zich moeten schamen over de boeken die hij wil lezen?
Uiteindelijk kwam dit het dichtst in de buurt, want ik wou het lezen én
- de enige cover die nog meer "Flair" uitstraalt, is die van de Flair zelf;
- een lichte gêne overviel me toen ik in de bibliotheek in de sectie "hartjes met een pijl door" liep;
- ik zou nooit aan mijn intellectuele collega die me boeken van Ismail Kadare aanraadt durven toegeven dat ik dit boek aan het lezen ben;
- zelfs mijn vriend die nooit enige aandacht besteedt aan de boeken die ik lees, vroeg spontaan "wat is dat?" toen ik het uit mijn handtas haalde.
De reden dat ik dit boek wou lezen was omdat ik al meerdere mensen had gehoord die het zo hilarisch vonden, en dan wordt een mens nieuwsgierig.
Helaas vond ik die hilariteit wat tegenvallen. Typisch vrouwelijke kantjes worden zodanig uitvergroot dat het gênant wordt, en ik vond het gedrag van het hoofdpersonage eerder ergernis opwekkend (hoe naïef kan je zijn?) dan gniffel-gniffel-herkenbaar. Gelukkig vindt er op tijd een ware transformatie plaats, en dan wordt het boek toch nog wat genietbaarder.
Die ware transformatie is niet compleet, waardoor op strategische wijze plaats wordt gelaten voor 101 sequels. Niet dat ik die ga lezen.

Sweet, funny, and nothing like the movie AT ALL. I read this because I thought the movie was funny (I heart Isla Fisher!) and I've really enjoyed reading Kinsella of late. I was surprised at how different it was from the movie. Bexy is adorable, Luke is swoony, and I'm looking forward to picking up the next book in the series.
Ok, there are sometimes when I want to read vapid literature. I actually like this cheeky British humor. About a girl who struggles to control her spending habits (losing the battle) and tries to find true love.

definitely an awesome escape from daily monotony.. and offers more thana few laughs along the way!
A light-hearted, fun read. I've had people tell me it's a fun book, but I never thought I would enjoy it. I picked it up for $1 on the clearance rack at HPB figuring that even if I hated it, I was only out $1. If you're looking for a deep, intellectual book- this is not it. After reading Sarah's Key which left me pretty emotionally drained, and working my way little by little through Take This Job and Ship It which is fascinating, informative and depressing all at once...well, I really needed a light, mindless read. Confessions of a Shopaholic fit that bill perfectly.
I love Becky. She is far from perfect, but she's hilarious. I love her running commentary in her head- when she is absolutely convinced that she has THE winning lottery number, when she tries to convince herself that she is going to get married to Tarquin, when she is questioning whether it's okay to talk about salaries and I love how she ends up being somewhat intelligent (though not really).
It's a fun, escapist, guilty pleasure.
Kind of like Twilight.
But the writing is better.

The book constantly talks about finance and money but if you look past all that it's about a girl with a real spending problem. I really liked it and hope to read the next book in the series.
