Is the premise kind of ridiculous? Yes. Did this really work for me? Also yes. It's very much a "no plot, just vibes" kind of book -- some of the strongest parts of it are her sketches of other people and her reflections on the impacts her relationships with man has had on her life. I'm so impressed that this is just how Heti writes in her diary for herself and would totally read a journal of hers if she ever published them.

So I was drawn in by the title and the concept of writing, however Sheila Heti's writing is phenomenal. Her writing style is very blunt, straight to the point. She holds no bar and writes what the common person is afraid to say our loud.
We get a glimpse to whom she really is by piecing the thoughts of her journal entries together.
Her writing is an acquired taste and what I needed.

I think this book made me feel emotions that I wasn’t ready for but I found the concept so fascinating, I couldn’t put it down.
