Hadn't read this since before the film released, and wow...this is still one of my favorite Star Wars books (and books in general). It's written like a true tragedy and has a impending sense of dread and underlying darkness that just creeps throughout the writing of this story. It reminds me that entire prequel era's changed a lot between pre-2008 TCW & now. It was a lot darker & "mature" back then. TCW also fundamentally changed & misunderstood Anakin's character...gonna reread more pre 2008 Clone Wars stuff now.

Oh wow. Never did I expect that the novelization of a Star Wars book could improve the film itself. But that is exactly what has happened here. The insight into Anakin Skywalker’s thoughts do so much to explain his transformation into Darth Vader. 5 stars, highly recommend to all Star Wars fans.

This book, to me, is THE definitive prequel media.

Novelizations are sometimes just "The Movie: Deluxe Edition," parroting everything from the movie without adding much else. This is not one of those novelizations. I can't even stress enough how much this book takes Episode III from a good but flawed movie to THE BEST POSSIBLE VERSION of itself. There are whole entire extra scenes, background for everything that seemed odd, jarring, or like a plot hole from the movie, and dialogue that I would give my eyeteeth to have seen onscreen.

Overall, Stover's novelization sews the disjointed pieces of Episode III together into a devastating crescendo befitting a space opera's tragic climax. If this book could have been reflected on the screen, "Revenge of the Sith" would make it into a lot more people's list of top 3 Star Wars movies. Please read it.

All things die, Anakin Skywalker. Even stars burn out.

11/19/2018 Edit: I am destroyed. This has got to be like my fourth time reading this, and yet I almost couldn't make it through I was so stressed. I'm a different person now than I was when I started this re-read.

It's not even that this book is a phenomenal adaptation of the Revenge of the Sith movie. Honestly, the Revenge of the Sith movie is a laughably poor adaptation of this book.

I read the book before I watched the movie, and I loved it! I loved that the politics was explained in a way that made the movie make a lot more sense when I ended up watching it. Extremely well written.

A billion stars!! Anyone who loves Star Wars NEEEDS to stop everything and read this book. This was FANTASTIC. It added so much to Anakin, Obiwan, Padme, Yoda and even Windu. I am just amazed at Matthew Stovers portrayal. Revenge of the Sith is one of my favorite Star Wars movies so I knew I was going to enjoy this book, but the amount of substance it added to the plot made my heart break. Anakin Skywalker remains a favorite, and I was, as expected, just not okay throughout a good chunk of this book. The TEARS, the emotion, the LOVE, the FEAR. It’s all done so well and I don’t think I’ll ever be over this book. It’s a must for all Star Wars fans across the galaxy!

I don't normally go for novelizations, but Stover's telling of Episode III enhances the story and makes the characters more likeable and understandable. This title fills in so many holes for me. You are able to feel Anakin's struggle. Jedi aren't the good guys. And my goodness, Padme isn't completely a whimpering sack of potatoes.

I also highly recommend the audiobook version. Narrator Jonathan Davis does a fantastic job. His Yoda and Obi-wan vocals are spot on. The production is great weaving John Williams' musical themes and sound effects throughout. Not only do we hear Artoo's blips and beeps, but Stover also gives the little astromech droid a voice by providing us with translation.

I was hesitant to check this out, but my husband kept insisting I would like it. Very glad I finally did!
