He vuelto a picar.

Out of all the novelizations that I've read, this is by far...the best. I didn't actually like the movie, but for some reason (which I have ideas of what the reasons are), this book works, while the movie (in my opinion, the movie didn't).
The internal dialogue of the point of view characters...allows the readers to KNOW the motivations of our heroes, The movie could only do so much, but show what is/was going on within their minds...and the doubt and confusion, but then the tamping down of their hopes. Ugh. The author taps into this, and uses this to bring the reader along...and he does it in almost flawless perfection.
"So this is how liberty dies, she was saying to herself. With cheering, and applause."
This line has stayed with me for so many years...and now I see how powerful it is within this book...and especially in our current times. So poignant and powerful.
Obviously, I know this story. I've read and watched practicallly EVERYTHING Star Wars related since 1977. It has been a part of my life...since I was eleven years old. My hopes and dreams are Star Wars related in so many ways.
Now, as I am reading through all the Legends books (which has been an incredible journey...so far, and I'm still at/near the beginning), this book is a gem. A true POWERHOUSE of a story...as it reverberates throughout that galaxy, to our time.
If you've not read this book, do yourself a favour and read it. It really is THAT good.
Being in the mind of Anakin, and his fragile existence. Seeing the criticisms levied against him from the Jedi Council, Mace Windu, Yoda, and even Obi-Wan Kenobi. How Chancelor Palpatine used his knowledge to wind his way into his confidence and play on his sympathies and hurts. The ULTIMATE betrayal of friendship...towards the Dark Side.
We see/saw it, and pleaded with the characters on screen and in this book...to see clearer and avoid the deception, but they were blind in rage...and they'd already fallen to the Dark Side. Ugh.
To read the love that Padmé had for Anakin, but to see the jealousy and sense of betrayal from her (in his mind...for Obi-Wan), but for her to realize that her dear, sweet Anakin had/has fallen into league with Darth Sidious. Ugh.
Oof, I am so impressed that the author could write these scenes SO well.
Impressive and sad. Why? Ugh.
So happy that I read this book.

The ideal way to experience this story. Every character is more fleshed out, the themes better conveyed, and the tone better established. It’s main flaw is that it’s constrained by its source material: the main romance remains terrible and borderline abuse apologia, and while the book extolls the power of love and the corruption of the Jedi Order, it doesn’t have the space to actually show these. Still, well worth a read for any Star Wars fan.

The injustice inflicted upon moviegoers is that we were robbed of Anakins playful dark banter while he killed each of the confederation leaders.
The writing was amazing and memorable, made the rise of Darth Vader compelling and believable.

"Love can ignite the stars" when your heart breaks for Anakin and Padmè.. What a brilliant book. If the movie broke your heart, then this book will shatter and stomp the pieces of your heart into tiny bits..

Revenge of the Sith is my favorite Star Wars movie, and I was so excited for this. It was kinda like any Star Wars Legend book though. Lots of action. There was a good amount of character study though, and that's why I wanted to read it. I thought Anakin's dragon metaphor was very interesting.

My favorite Star Wars book. I love how it adds depth to my favorite characters, and it improves on the movie tenfold.
This book really was a little gem to find and read.
I remember buying this just before the movie came back in 2005, and was surprisingly shocked by how rich and well written it was. For a movie based on a film. This book is by far better than the movie it is based upon, which you would think is strange considering the movie is more the 'source material' in this instance. But reading this was a joy. You really get to see the pressures that all the characters were under during the war and the events around it. It's detailed, and as others have said, yes it's a tragedy of sorts. From the strain of a relationship to the downfall of a man, to the death of many characters, this book has everything that the movie just doesn't get to show you.
One of my absolute favourite things about this book is that you get to see things happen that didn't happen in the movie, but when you read the book you think that it would logically fit in, and it would happen. Some moments I think were a shame not to include in the film, but that's why we have the book : so we can read back to it and find out more. Such a good read, I would recommend to any Star Wars fan, or just any person in general who wasn't completely satisfied with what the film had to offer.
