okay i was ready to not like this book but honestly this actually hit with me. like this touched on a lot of very heavy things in terms of like finding your footing without school as a Real Adult, feeling like everyone else has it together, sexism and misogyny and also the anxiety of feeling like everyone hates you or is out to get you. and the metaphor of the crack underlying everything and being an ever present thing and sophie essentially persevering in spite of all the cracks in her life is soooo chefs kiss. also i know ppl felt she was one dimensional bc of all the talk of her checking her social media but are we not all victims of that rn... all we do is scroll thru our stupid lil apps... guys. the thing is. it's actually Very Serious but also not at all serious!

i related to the mc’s internal beliefs so much and i wonder if other people find her and thus me and irritating character… there were so many lightbulb “i’ve thought the exact same thing” moments. the whole crack thing was a little confusing, i get it showed uncertainty but it didn’t seem like there was much point to it - maybe that was the point. at times it did feel like a wannabe self help book, took me out of the book everytime but jesus if she wasn’t out through the ringer, everything that happened is so so awful and yet it’s so common and realistic. makes me want to psychoanalyse the entire book
