Took a chapter to get teally into it. Not sure what is the appeal of a rouge, alcoholic cop but it definitely played well with the other characters on the book.

Greed, vices and innocence embedded in maturity. A few unnecessary deaths, but maybe it paved the road for the sequels.

Enjoyed it.

Points for excitement; it made the drive go by faster. But all of the characters were caricatures, and every female character you met had to be fully objectified before proceeding.

This is the first C J Box novel I have read, it was more gritty than I first thought. The main character is difficult to like at first, though as the story progresses his foibles are revealed. The fast moving plot and likable characters are engaging-- I know I will read more from the author.
The narrator, Holter Graham, definitely adds to the enjoyment of this read.

Good, entertaining mystery/thriller set partly in Yellowstone National park. I really enjoyed it!

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Joe Pickett series and this was just as good! Although Joe and Cody Hoyt are polar opposites. This had a dark energy in it that kept it moving and had some snarky humor that had me smirking more than once.
