These are some of the smartest and funniest kids' books we've read. They are silly but smart and introduce children to higher level concepts in a subtle way. Ijust wish Dog Man wasn't a cop.

Our heroes face their darkest days yet in this sixth installment! Luckily Lil Petey is around with lots of poop jokes to lighten the load... Loved the claymation in this one, the unique vocabulary, the silly antics, and the seriously heartwarming message most of all.

3.5/5 As an adult reader some of the reptitive parts of the series (e.g. the terrible bad jokes from cat kid) are starting to wear thin however I think the predictability will appeal to many of the target audience, who enjoy the comfort of knowing what to expect. This particular addition to the DogMan collection had some nice new elements including a claymation movie badguy and a 'digital' news update at the end which are sure to add interest for readers who are following the series.
I did enjoy the progress Petey made here in letting go of his 'evil' persona thanks to CatKids nagging and I thought the 'its ok to be a misfit' message at the end would really resonate with lots of young readers. I will happily continue to encourage my students (aged 6+) to read these fun, accessible graphic novels, not that they need a push to do so!
