A very fun and informative retelling of the Greek myths as told by Stephan Fry himself. The author describes how he took the myths and gave there his own spin while staying true to the stories themselves.

An incredible undertaking.

Stephen Fry breathes life into these many myths, giving the characters dialogue and making these numerous stories much more digestible for the reader. What could have been a very meandering and confusing book was as concise as it could be considering the large subject matter. The audiobook is narrated by Stephen Fry himself which I enjoyed immensely.

Highly recommend if you love mythology and history, he weaves the two together through out the novel.

I went into this thinking it would be a bit more like Gaiman's Norse Mythology. It's not quite as narrative as I was hoping, but rather more informative, inserting contemporary references and modern tid-bits throughout the re-tellings. Consequently, I never managed to feel fully immersed in the stories. That said, it was still immensely enjoyable, mostly because of Fry's sense of humor injected into the tales.

Whether you're a fan of Greek myth or completely unfamiliar with the canon, I think there is a lot to enjoy here. Just don't expect a novel-like experience.
