This is a good book with a nice nested structure. I thought it might be a bit more intricate/layered, given the reviews, but I still enjoyed it. Perhaps having just taught Pale Fire made this seem simple by comparison but I still found it rewarding. I'll be reading it with my students in my "Risky Business and the American Dream" course and I can say that it certainly pairs well with The Great Gatsby (a text we start that class with).

My confusion at the multiple retellings gave way to admiration during the last section. Innovative story structure!

I happened to finish this book right after watching the 1957 Sidney Lumet film, 12 Angry Men on a 9-hour flight. Both stories had a lot to impart about storytelling, bias, power/influence, pressure, and subterfuge.
