Absolutely delightful bodice ripper. Literally, bodices are ripped. Also a shirt at some point.

Well constructed story with fun characters that make you giggle and kick your feet in delight. Great if you like very banter-y love interests who can snark at each other while maintaining a solid romance. I only wish the cover showed at least a little of the male lead's scars! They're like, his whole big thing and the cover kind of pretends it's not there at all.

“You’re here,” he repeated, taking her hand and drawing it against his chest, right above his pounding heartbeat. “In my heart. Somehow you crashed your way into it when I wasn’t looking. The same way you barged into my library, I suppose. But you’re here now, inside. Emma, you’re the very life of me.”

4.5 stars.

Oh I absolutely adored this! Emma and Ash were perfect, from the banter, to the chemistry, to the story, I loved it all! This was honestly such a good read, I don't even have the words to describe how much I enjoyed it!!

Cute AF. Ash’s character was amazing. And I loved the women in the story.

3.5 stelle!

Retelling della Bella e la Bestia in chiave historical romance.
Il libro mi ha divertito tantissimo e la coppia è meravigliosa, ti tiene incollat* al romanzo.
Unica pecca il linguaggio che a volte è fin troppo moderno.

What a delightful surprise! Listen, romance is NOT my genre of choice. Much less regency romance! Who am I? But one of my reading goals this year was to expand my reading horizons and this book was raved about by a booktuber I watch whose reading taste I trust. This was so much fun! And it was just the ticket to cleanse my literary palette after the darkness of October. The chemistry between the two main characters is strong from the beginning, the witty banter is laugh-out-loud funny, and sex scenes are steamy enough without being cringy. There is a character who is an animal loving/rescuing vegan who I personally found relatable. The depth of all the characters was happily unexpected. This is the first in a series, the others spotlighting the side characters, and I fully intend to read them all.

Expert deployment of tropes

A serviceable romance with some good scenes, but nothing too groundbreaking. The sense of humor can verge into corny territory but was appreciated

This definitely grew on me — I flew through it, and found myself laughing and smiling throughout. I loved how funny it was, how many silly moments there were, though I skimmed through some of the spice (there’s a lot)There were certainly things dropped and small issues, but overall I’m really into this series. Definitely a fan, and I’ve immediately put holds on the next two; hopefully they’re as good as this one :)
