c’est de la torture d’écrire des livres comme ça parce qu’après quand je les lis j’ai uniquement envie de mourir

Exactly the same as the movie. I personally read about 20 pages, realized it was an adaptation from the movie and not the other way round, watched the movie, and finished the book that next day. It was nice to enjoy the story twice so soon yet with a slightly different perspective. Watching the movie first helped a lot with character names and their personalities, I recommend doing similar to what I did, especially if you like re-thinking things or a new view-point on a topic, in this case, the story. Overall, a good book. I don't give it 5 stars because in aspects it felt like it missed some of the feeling the movie gave me. If I hadn't first watched it, I wouldn't have understood certain things. On the other hand, this book pieced together scenes that weren't shown in the movie and helped me see the story line clearer. Read this if you want to, I don't see it as a must, only if you want a bit more context and to simply relive the story again.

I'm irreparably heartbroken.

I loved Mr. Keating so much. I wanted admission to the Dead Poets Society. Welton Academy (society) and conceited parents have stolen the boys' dreams, love, and passion. They killed Neil, and he was the best of them.

I miss Neil. For the first time in his life, he finally found something he genuinely loves (acting), something that sparks joy and fire in his heart, and yet he was punished for it. Todd was starting to get out of his shell and be someone separate from his genius older brother. Charlie wanted to explore new things. Knox fell in love.

Someone who kindles love and life like Mr. Keating doesn't deserve punishment for opening students' eyes to the school and life's robotic system they are trapped in, mostly due to sheer force and pressure. He was made the scapegoat, even though he merely did his part (teaching) and showed his students the option of walking the road less traveled by, should they feel called to. I hate it. I love it. I hope for another society meeting at the cave.

I hate Cameron.

I just want to cry and cry and cry and stare at the wall.

The film was a cinematic masterpiece, meanwhile this book is just there.
