This read has been very interesting. I'm like a walking game of thrones background knowledge lexicon right know. I especially enjoyed the chapter about the reign of the Targaryens and About Essos. The rest of the seven kingdoms history was rather boring because the authors tried to put as much information in as little pages as possible and it ended in a confusing mix of different names and houses that no normal person could possibly remember. That's quite sad. What I liked most, were the illustrations. They were rather huge and very beautiful

In my opinion this book is really targeted at superfans of the GOT series. It really doesn't give much additional entertainment but just facts and context.

As the title indicates this book is a history of Westeros, and I think is best read AFTER reading the main novels as a way to deepen one's understanding of the context and mindset of the main books.

Loving the book so far! Loved the history of Targareyan Kings the most so far.

This book looks fabulous. Just got hold of my copy and the graphics/art work is amazing. I loved the family trees, maps at the end of the book. I wish Tolkien or Rowling had come with a prequel like this for their series. Great intro to a great series.
More after reading the book.

Waiting for this book desperately!

I think I'll like and appreciate this much more once I've read more than two of the books. It is well produced and the illustrations are great. A lot of the history was new to me and I suspects names will be familiar later this year after reading the rest of the series.
