You would think that a book about the life of Danny Trejo would be sad but this was a surprisingly uplifting book. Trejo focused so much on his own redemption and dedicating his life to helping people that I found myself reflecting on my own life and how I can be a better person as well. Society is so ready to throw away the "bad" people and forget them but this book shows that even the hardest criminals can be rehabilitated and that often they are born into crime.

I've always liked Danny Trejo, but this book made me appreciate him as a human being rather than just a hardcore, yet memorable bad guy. Great book. Read it.

Really interesting and inspiring.

My goodness this book was a ride. Danny Trejo is a wonder and a marvel. It's amazing that he's such a laid back dude after all he's been through. He is a national treasure. I'm glad that he's always lived his life and now is living his best life.

I could listen to him talk for days! There’s something special when you get to listen to the author read his own life story. What an amazing life journey.

Danny Trejo is an Mexican American legend. Little does he know, this book taught me more about surviving in prison than anything I’ve head previously.
He brings to life the school to prison pipeline with his circumstances and experiences. His sobriety journey and mission is inspiring, and I want only the best for him and his family.

This has got to be the craziest memoir that I have ever read. Danny Trejo is now my spirit animal and I have the deepest respect for who he is now. Trejo recaps highlights in his life that changed and shaped who he is today. He came from an incredibly dark place, to a wonderful vessel for change. I loved this read and can't wait to get my hands on Trejo's cookbook.

There are a few people in Hollywood that I think are just insanely good storytellers. Dolly is one of my favorites. She is someone I would just love to sit and listen to her talk about whatever. Danny Trejo is now on my list of favorite storytellers. He's had an incredible journey to sobriety and fame. He seems to be a really good person who truly wants to help people. The pacing of the audiobook was pretty slow even at 3x speed (that's totally okay) and I really like Donal talking about Danny at the end as well.

I wish I could give this book more stars. A fascinating autobiographical story mixed in with some life philosophy, a look at prison culture in the 60's, and some behind-the-scenes insight on a few of his movies. I really enjoyed reading and learning about his perspective on life, especially about how good comes to your own life from doing good for others.

This is a must listen. Read by Danny Trejo and so wonderful to hear in his voice. This is a spectacular human being.
