Such a great read. It’s a rarity when I want to immediately reread a book that I just finished, but this one made me want to. His life story is so interesting and Danny holds nothing back. His life of crime, his addictions and how he was able to turn it all around. He sugar coats nothing, and it’s fascinating.

This is the amazing biography of Danny Trejo, hollywood star, former drug dealer, gang member and drug counsellor.

Danny made his first movie in his 40s and wrote this book at 76. So there’s 30+ years of Hollywood stories but there’s also the very raw story of his life before hollywood. Born to parents who didn’t appear to want him, he grew up with a close bond with his uncle. He committed his first crime at 7 and his first armed robbery at 14. He was incarcerated multiple times at some of the most famous jails in the US - San Quentin, Folsom, Soledad.

This book tells of his childhood trauma, rehabilitation and transformation into the movie bad guy we all love. He is humble, penitent, gracious and grounded. This is the best biography I’ve read in a long while. Totally recommend

I really enjoyed the audiobook, Danny Trejo is a great storyteller.

Can I give this book 10 stars?? I listened on audio. What an incredible story. If your only reference to Danny Trejo is his movies, you don’t know him. His involvement in the recovery community and staying clean and sober is impactful.
