"Terror amused him."
Such a chilling and fascinating manga so far. A compelling story about the nature of evil and the vast ripple effects that our decisions can make - even when we think we're doing the right thing - and all the lives that can be affected by it. I started the anime last year and decided I would rather read this story instead and I'm so glad I did.

Wildly melodramatic and just escalated beyond belief every single time. Its certainly fun and fast paced, but it just stretches well beyond incredulity over and over and over. There is an evil twin thing, people selectively remembering their pasts, framing of murders, seemingly a cult?, multiple people with genius intellects at cross purposes, a strange divergence that helps a mute child come out of her shell, an old blind man appearing out of nowhere with exposition for the mystery, and an unsettling amount of coincidences in service to dramatic tension.
It’s just too much lol entire soap opera seasons in single issues. If you’re into gotcha plotting, I can see why people would be into it. Twist after twist. Nonsensical though they may be, is still fun. But… that’s all it is.

Wow, what an incredible story! Need the next one now!
Finished this in three days because it was so fast paced and suspenseful. I'm definitely going to continue the series to see where it goes...

"Not all people’s lives are equal.”
Don’t you love it when you find something ‘unexpected’? While watching a BookTube video (Merphy Napier and Philip Chase), this manga series was mentioned and it piqued my interest immediately.
It features a neurosurgeon who goes out of his way to save someone’s life who turns out to be a serial killer... Naomi Urasawa uses this premise to feature some fascinating ethical questions. The result is a thriller with some shades of horror, a characters study, all wrapped up in mystery you cannot resist wanting to solve. The art added an extra dimension and layers of meaning. Definitely carrying on :O)

I had no idea what this was about when I picked it up. Always saw these massive books in the library and wanted to read them, but volume 1 was never in. FINALLY, I got the first volume and it was not really what I expected. I guess I thought it'd be a monster-horror manga, but it was more of a drama-mystery type thing. It's not bad though. I checked out the other volumes as well so I'll read more of these. Not sure if I felt strongly one way or the other about this book. The characters aren't that compelling. The situations are meant to be dramatic and full of conflict, but it's more like a limp noodle. Unsure if I'd recommend. Maybe they'll get better?
It’s nice to come across a manga series that feels like it was written for actual adults and not just otaku dorks. It’s suspenseful and mature in a way that’s more common in prestige TV (and used to be common in Hollywood thrillers). There’s not enough stuff like that in comics! Curious to see where this goes from here.
