I read the first few volumes of this series years ago (life got in the way of finishing the series, but it has been on my radar ever since), and so I am now rereading so I can refresh my memory before finishing the series. I imagine I will have more to say closer to the end, but wow I almost forgot how hard this first volume hits.

Monster has a fantastic premise--perfect in a way that is just horrible. This first volume moves fast and, at the same time, knows how to emphasize those perfect intense moments.

The art is phenomenal, our main character, Tenma, is well-constructed (all the characters are so far), and the villain of the story....well, not one that I will ever forget. I am going to speed read the next few volumes I have already read in the past so I can move on the the new ones. This series is remarkably effective at getting its hooks into you, and I really need to know what happens.
