An interesting and thought-provoking collection of some of the craziest or grossest stories I’ve read. The stories are each captivating and difficult to put down. I preferred some over others but could absolutely see myself going back to read this whole collection as well as individual pieces.

the final story ('To Meet Her') + the author's note really got me and made me respect Bora Chung on another level. also really enjoyed 'Maria, Gratia Plena' (basically any of the stories more directly dealing with heavier topics like systemic oppression I thought were very good). while 'A Very Ordinary Marriage' isn't anything super unique, it still managed to creep me out enough that I feel it deserves a mention. I also enjoyed the variety of perspectives even if the stories themselves didn't work out for me.

Bora Chung has mastered the art of crafting these absurd, graphic stories that strip you down to your most basic emotions and you come back for more each time. A wild time with every story, Chung's follow-up to the impeccable Cursed Bunny solidifies her as a leading voice in genre-bending story collections. Fusing speculative fiction and experimental horror with tender and sometimes even laughable moments, this is one you read and it sticks with you for all the right reasons. So happy to see Anton Hur translating for her again as well, a duo to watch!
