Incredible. Unforgettable.

A sparse, postmodern novel in verse that came from a found diary. It’s simple and short but kind of lovely. A nice little experiment of a piece.

Plenty has been said already about the structure of this (found poetry?) book so I won't pile on that. I will say that, unexpectedly, this excerpted journal of midwesterner in her late 80s made me feel hopeful about old age.

A very interesting and insight into a woman’s journal from 1968-72.  I liked the editing telling a story.

This book is a tiny marvel. While it can easily be read in one quick sitting, the voice (a combination of the original diarist and Scanlan) is unforgettable. I can easily see myself reading this over and over and over.

Beautiful, I will return to it I'm sure.

I thought this was going to be a lot more unique or captivating than it was. But alas...

A small, quiet experiment about a life lived. Day to day, storm to storm, death to death. A special artifact. I look forward to Scanlan's collection of brilliant short fiction!
