I really loved DKR - and I really wanted to love DKSA... but I couldn't. The story was decent but the artwork was far to abrasive. I didn't care for it at all - perhaps if it was just black and white, I could have tolerated it, but the bright colors all over the place nearly gave me a seizure. I liked how all the heroes came together and how the story seemed to progress, but the style overload kept taking me away from it all. Too bad really.

There may be some redeeming stuff in here, I can't remember. One of that special class of sequels that diminishes the original story. It would be better had this not been made.

Started off great; disappointing ending.

I liked this even better than I did the first volume. It was a well told tale and the artwork was off kilter and original. The social commentary was clear, but that did not take away from the story. If anything, it added to it. Very satisfying. Don't know why it took me so long to get to it.

You know that scene in Robots where he says “Upgrades people, upgrades?” This is like that, but replace up with down.

Major tonal problems here. I was never sure how I was supposed to feel when reading this.

Read this a while ago, only noticed I hadn't marked it as read while I was looking up The Master Race, which I am currently reading.

less epic than the dark knight returns because it screws up the cool ending... still a well-crafted tale

Picking up where he left off, Frank Miller continues his new version of Batman, but I kind of wish he hadn't.

I still enjoyed this book, but it's far more over the top than the last. Batman has faked his death to hide from Lex Luthor who has taken over the world and holds all superheros hostage, preventing them from preventing his evil.

The art is more cartoonish, brighter, and oversexed compared to the original. The plot has grown so big, encompassing the entire planet, that it gets a bit hard to swallow.

Really, what this book felt like to me, was a schlockier Watchmen.

Ew David.
A bloated, no fun story and it seems impossible for Muller to draw any female character without including their butt.
Art is blocky and a mess.
Story is damn near incomprehensible and has nothing to do with the original series.
Ugh.
No.
