True crime is not my thing. Ted Bundy was disturbing and did horrible things to the women he murdered. This story drug on for me.
This book was creepy. I feel the author had a major crush on Ted, and it just seemed to fawn over him versus focus on the fact he was a maniacal serial killer. Perhaps it was meant to be a cautionary tale of how "normal" he seemed and how well he integrated, but it just felt very gross and repetitive.
While Rule did a thorough job writing this book and explained everything in an objective way, I also couldn’t get past her (denied) sympathy for this man. I understand she knew him before she knew what he was, but the almost companionable way she wrote about him even after understanding what he was was hard to stomach. I don’t care if he had a hard time in prison or what he could have had to offer the world - I care about the women whose lives he decided to steal and what they could have offered. Also, wild to recognize the locations of everything when he was in Washington. Now that I live here it became that much more real and terrifying.
Really interesting and comprehensive book about Ted Bundy with a unique perspective! An amazing true crime read but with all of the updates and extra chapters at the end, it became too long and tough to finish. Overall great book though!

Too pro Ted Bundy. Even if this changes, I don't need to read a defense of him of any length.
