Here’s another example of a book that sounded better than I found it to be. I was under the impression I was getting a story about Ted Bundy but instead it was a close examination of the author’s relationship to Ted Bundy. Now, don’t get me wrong, was it ooky spooky in some parts? Yes. Was I intrigued by the writing and the story? Yes. But did I find myself completely engaged and wanting to keep reading? No. A great nonfiction novel for anyone interested in a completely different perspective about the notorious serial killer.

Ugh, I dunno. It's like 600 pages long first of all. Bundy's arrogance got old realllly quickly, but Ann Rule is as arrogant as he is anyway. I feel like at 600 pages I should have learned way more about the victims, this is very much a killer-centric book.. which isn't cool. It was like a dare to finish it, I need to read something with substance to cleanse my mental palate.

"We're conducting the public's business, gentlemen, and we're going to conduct it in the sunshine. We're sitting in Florida." - Judge Cowart

Well researched. Fabulously written. Rule makes sure to give details to humanize Bundy's victims and gives details about the man that he was. A great deal of humanity and horror is inclosed in this account of Bundy's crimes & trial. It does begin to ramble on at times, but it comes from an honest to goodness good place.

Very interesting and compelling read, if a bit long-winded. I had to skim a bunch of sections just to get through the very dense book. It's still hard to believe that one of our greatest true crime authors was friends with Ted Bundy. What are the odds?? But it sure made for an interesting story and some "what if" thoughts in case you wonder about some of your own friends (wink, wink).
