Poor Nikki loses her diary and archenemy MacKenzie finds it. Yikes, typical Nikki antics ensue.
3.8 stars
Quick note: Some ableist microaggressions were present in this book such as the frequent use of the words crazy and insane. There's a scene where Nikki and her mom were in a hurry about something and she said the person watching this probably thought they just got released from a mental hospital yikes. There were other instances like Nikki said Mackenzie was insane and should be locked up and other things I can't remember at the moment.
This was so cute and wildly entertaining. I may be too old for this, at times it felt very juvenile and ridiculous but I enjoyed this very much. It made me laugh out loud and sucked me in completely.
Sometimes I was annoyed at the characters for overdramatizing over a problem that was not really that severe but they acted like it was. This is a middle grade and it takes place in middle school so it makes sense but sometimes I was annoyed there are worse things than thinking your crush might not like you. Yet other times I wished to return to the days where one of my biggest problems was that.
Overall: I read this book in a few hours it was such a fun experience and I'm ordering the next book from the library now. Gift this to your favorite tween girl or read this yourself for a fluffy book that's pure fun.

I'm waiting for the book where everyone knows about her scholarship due to Mackenzie. Like, just tell 'em already, girl!

We all know that our Queen Mackenzie isn’t the real bad guy in this. The REAL villain is Nikki.
