I was intrigued by the premise and got this by chance in the book exchange at work.

I don't usually like sad books - point of fact I avoid them like the plague - but this is one I think I'll revisit. I might even get the next ones in the series, though I admit this is probably because I'm hoping in vain for a comedy story...

I am too emotionally raw to offer any further review points at this time.

I think that I read this book too disjointedly to really get the full effect, but it reminds me of those "Chicken Soup for the Soul" kind of books that my grandma used to read. The characters are intertwined throughout the book, even though it's divided into several vignettes of people looking to resolve an issue through time travel. I love the structure and the concept, and it was pretty well executed. The only thing that I struggled with was truly investing in the characters because of the style and the disconnect that I think happened with the language in the book when it was translated (or I just didn't love the prose, and that's okay!). I think this book would be most impactful if you relate to the relationships that the vignettes centered on, but I did find the message a bit cheesy. I also wish that we got more details about how exactly the time travel works. There were points I was really confused/turned around, and the end of the book doesn't exactly offer a clear view of what actually happens/the timeline of events. I would read another book of this to try it out some more, as the concept is really great, but it's not a high priority for me!

I am torn. I didn't like how gimmicky the rules felt, and how they suddenly changed. I am also unsure about what message we are supposed to get from reading these stories.
