Martha is Magic. It helps that we speak the same language. Coaching via book is a tough balance of information and exercises and guesswork. Somehow she knows exactly what to say even though she isn't in the room with you. Wonderful, wonderful!

I love Martha Beck's voice and her books, and this one is no exception. I always find some nugget in her writing that I can take away and apply to my own life.

I did this as an audio book. I really enjoy her columns in O magazine. I think we could all use some Life Coaching once in a while. I particularly appreciated her take on dream interpretation.

Can I give this book 10 Stars? Or 20?

I may seem overdramatic, perhaps, to say that this book is life-changing. But that is what it feels like for me! Totally and utterly life-changing.

It takes you on a journey little by little you change how you live and how you think to follow your dreams and passions. If you follow these exercises I can practically guarantee you that your life will start shifting for the better. Day by day. Little changes will turn to big changes until one day you'll realize you're living your dream!

This is the best blend of Self-Help and Non-spiritual law of attraction I've ever seen. And if you want to boost your results with manifesting read the Course in Manifesting Box Set by Genevieve Davis. They blend perfectly!

Eh. It contained some woo-woo.

Martha Beck, as usual, blends her unique combination of practical advice and woo-woo theories bordering on the stark raving mad. Some of her books are more mystical in nature than others, and this one certainly requires a healthy dose of suspending your disbelief. Beck even warns readers about this in the book's introduction (she calls it 'putting your brackets up'), so it's not as though the magical utterings come as a surprise.

What I always appreciate about Beck is that she allows herself to be her quirky, authentic self on the page: funny, irreverent, academic, and wholly convicted in her beliefs. My only slight complaint with the book is that I would have liked more practical advice for actually tapping into all that Stargazer potential I'm supposed to have inside me. But then again, I guess if accessing it was as simple as filling out a worksheet, it wouldn't exactly be much of a magical process, now, would it?

Ultimately, Beck proves once again that she knows her audience well: spiritual seekers willing to follow her on an in-depth exploration of their hidden places, in the hopes they may discover the starlight has been there all along.

Absolutely adore Beck's sense of humour. But this all feels like hokum. I can see where some would find the value, but it's not for me. Guess I don't believe in magic.

I really like her writing style and ideas, I felt like a lot of her advice didn't apply to me, which I suppose is a good thing! Possibly as a result, I got bored near the end.
