An interesting aside in the main series, and one that's important for where the Cobra series ends up going after the next volume. One of the interesting things about this whole series is how it takes familiar Joe characters (or, at least, ones who had action figures) and changes them up whole sale. Remember the Scoop toy? He had a gigantic camcorder that was also a gun. Here, he's a horribly damaged, disgraced newspaper reporter who's become a PI to try to pay the bills, and nobody likes him.

But I digress. The attraction in this volume is learning more about the Cobra characters themselves, and learning how the organization works. We'd gotten bits and pieces before, but we end up getting a much larger point of view. Granted, it's through the eyes of Scoop as he infiltrates the Coil (guess what? It's a front for Cobra!) and meets Serpentor (who's given a great, and creepy, overhaul), but that's just framing for the real inner workings. Excellent stuff.
