This was so adorable. I read most of it by the pool one afternoon (which was odd seeing as this was set in Scotland at Christmas...so definitely not your typical summer-y read), and had such a great time with the characters! I am really intrigued by royalty and the royal wedding and so I went on a binge of everything royal I could get my plain American commoner hands on.

Jamie was easily the best part of this book. I loved his character and his quirkiness. He was so weird, but it just made him even more adorable and intriguing. Dylan, our MC, was such a fun character as well. I really enjoyed being in her head and seeing things through her eyes.

If you are looking for a cute beachy or pool-side read, this is a great choice! Just be prepared for a lot of fluff and adorable geekiness =)

From the very beginning, the book reminded me of the previous book I read (also my favourite), Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins. And to be honest, I was sure if it was a good thing or not but I continued reading.

Our main character, Dylan, her older sister is set to marry a Scottish Royal who she met through a reality TV show. So we have the aspect of an older golden child aspect. The wedding takes place in Scotland during the Christmas holidays so the entire family has flown over - again very similar, but this is where it gets interesting - while being filmed for reality TV.

Dylan meets a cute guy who just so happens to be apart of the wedding party and the two of them hit it off, this is where the similarities end, because wow Jamie is dorky and sweet and super adorable I swear I got butterflies every time they interacted. My type is usually the bad boy brooding kind, but Jamie had my heart with how awkward he was, how vulnerable he seemed and how he genuinely seemed to like Dylan and was so interested in who she was and everything she said or did. Oh my goodness, and don’t even get me started on Jamie’s real name. What the hell is a Gillecriods? I had a brain aneurysm trying to figure out how the hell to pronounce it.

Of course there was the subplot of family drama and reality to drama, and then the plot twist (which I saw coming but was still shocked when it happened) but overall the cutest love story adjacent to Prince Charming.

I feel like this book is really good for anyone looking for royal, romance holiday story who really wants a happy ending! It was so sweet.

Favourite quote: “I had thought romance was fireworks and dancing, bright lights and big noises. Now I knew that romance could be perfect stillness.”

3.5 stars. Perfectly pleasant; it's like a fun Disney Channel Original Movie type book. Not a super original plot but executed entertainingly, with some sweet and cute moments and likeable characters. A good distraction book when you don't want to think too hard.

So good. So cliche. So predictable. So perfect.

It was really cute, I loved the idea and how honest it was about the difficulties of living with reality TV. A little predicable, but still a very cute and fun read.
