This is my first Colleen Hoover book and I am happy that this book lived up to it’s hype. We meet Tate (female MC), a 23yr old college student and nurse moves in order to live with her brother where she meets his best friend and neighbor Miles, a 24yr old pilot. There is an instant lust at first sight which leads the two to start a secret friends with benefits relationship behind her brother’s back. Miles has two rules for Tate: don’t ask about his past and don’t expect a future. As time goes on, Tate starts developing feelings and wants more than just sex but his tragic past is stopping him from loving her. The book is dual POV and we get to see Miles’ flashbacks from 6yrs ago and Tate’s present thoughts so we know about his haunted past while she remains in the dark and wonders why he can’t find it in him to love her the way she loves him. I balled my eyes out after reading what happened between him and Rachel especially since they were so young but seeing how it relates to the cover made it even sadder.
*read TW if you’re sensitive towards that kind of stuff*

The smut scenes were moderate and detailed enough without being too graphic which I appreciated in this contemporary romance.
