The bulk of the book was really good, the scares were fun and I liked the meta-horror discussions. However the the actual plot and the ending twist especially I didn't enjoy much. I'm not the kind of person who thinks a bad ending ruins a whole story and I don't think it here either exactly, but it does reframe the story in a way I wasn't a fan of. Still a fun enough read.

It was good, had me guessing up to the end but ultimately fell a little flat. Definitely still enjoyable though!

This book is hard to describe without giving a lot away. It's just not about what you think it's about. But it is a wild ride.

This reminds me a lot of Grady Hendrix, but less campy. Written documentary, first person style - I knew there was going to be a twist, but didn’t see that coming. The narrator’s(Felix) best friend Thomas, can’t seem to clear the air over a mysterious night bw them and their wives, and the ambiguity drags on throughout the book - and manifests with dolls posing in completely inappropriate positions (gross). And the house - THE HOUSE - has every kind of haunting imaginable: ghosts, sounds, screams, things moving. Almost laughable but also tragic. I devoured this book…think brain candy but horror genre. Unreliable narrating, atmospheric at times and kind of like listening to a podcast. Liked this one a lot. In the end, 13 nights turn into 12….it was that 1 night that made the difference. I added a few more books to my TBR bc of this one ❤️
