A certain person who gave me this book as a present knows me VERY well. I'm glad this lives on my shelf. I loved how some of these were genuinely disturbing in a deeply terrifying way, and some were just hilarious. The art and the words balance perfectly. SUCH a good concept for a comic. It makes me want to send in a fear -- and made me think about which fear I would send in.
This was one of the most unique books I have ever read. I thoroughly enjoyed it! However, at some of them I was legitimately disturbed.
Not about to ruin this book's 4.0. Loved the art and some of the fears were relatable.

I have been following Krause's work on Instagram for a while now and was delighted when I learned that his "Deep Dark Fears" series was manifesting in a printed hard cover book. A great read that is visually pleasing, both charming and disquieting, and also rather profound at times. I found myself laughing aloud in moments and then at times pondering the inter workings of human thought. Highly recommend.

I used to love seeing the Deep Dark Fears comics on tumblr. So I didn't hesitate for a second when I came across this book in a library. I recognise some of the comic strips included in this collection, while others are new to me.
There's a good mix of fears that are surprisingly touching or a bit funny, ones that made me go "uh oh, new fear unlocked" (these comprised both plausible and more unlikely examples), and... some that don't really sound like fears at all? I guess the artist wanted to branch out a bit. The copy is succinct and effective, and the art is fantastic (cute, but also great at body horror, haha).
Overall, I really enjoyed this. Reading it now, it makes me think about how so many fears are shared, and what those common fears say about us as humans. For fun, here's a list of fears (they're numbered from 1 to 101 in this book) that are my favourites for various reasons: 9, 32, 52, 64, 78, 82 and 95.

I feel ya, fears no. 9, 21, and 23.
Also, welcome fear no. 44. You are now a regular part of my everyday worries. :)

Wow ok this was fun. Some of these fears actually made me pause and think "OMG me too, oh thank god someone else is thinking this." A few of the fears made me laugh (in a good natured way). A few of the comics spooked me. A cool idea, neat art, and a nice reminder that we all have some odd fears and that we're not alone.
